If I buy a family pack, can I get 5 shirts (if I have 4 people with me)? We're planning to be in line really early (school being closed kinda leads to intense boredom). UTC's answering message kinda implies they'll open for the Leopard release.

If I can't get the upgrade I'm just going to buy an external HD and make it a network drive.That would work quite well. If you don't mind a non-portable drive (and it sounds like you don't), you'll get a lot more for your money (vs a portable drive).

The next Mac Mini should be fine for that. If as hoped it gets a Sandy Bridge processor it'll make the MacBook Air look terribly slow in comparison for CPU intensive tasks, especially if you put a SSD in the Mini.
As for EyeTV, the current Mini isn't as powerful as many of us would like, but I find it to be adequate. Hopefully the refresh will correct this and allow smooth playing of live sport in HDTV using progressive scan.

i went to the store and checked out these speakers, and although they aren't *quite* as good as the klipsch's they come real damn close, and look damn nice too. I'm surprised nobody suggested them..

I've been waiting for a change to the iBook line-up for a few months, which I know is kind of too soon...but the addition of a 12" DVD model isn't what I was waiting for... I guess it is cool for people to have options, but I was hoping for some better specs.

Not sure why you think you need to restore. If your iPad is on earlier firmware, just update to 4.2.1 with iTunes, then jailbreak using Greenpois0n. If it's already on 4.2.1, just run Greenpois0n.
Just make sure to make a backup in iTunes before you do anything, and you'll be fine.

Don't buy AppleCare on eBay unless you can get the box.
Even that is not good anymore since Apple may ask for proof of purchase and a receipt from eBay auction is not accepted. Amazon is a good place if you are looking for cheap, yet legit AC.

Just called the Emeryville Apple store, and asked them if I could camp out there. They said they don't care but that I should check with Bay Street security. They gave me the number. The lady I talked to said that no camping is allowed on the sidewalk or street and police will be out that night. The time people can start lining up is at 7am. I called the Apple store on Powell in San Francisco and they said it no problem, no one ever gets bothered. Guess thats where I will be!

Reinstalling the OS even once is so unnecessary, it's difficult to conceive of reinstalling it so many times that your hard drive would be damaged.

While the 17 inch has enough room for such a beast, unless Apple have come up with new ways to cool their machines, and with their G5 experiments, they should have plenty ready, they won't be able to use something more interesting.
It would be nice to see a really amazing, slick machine with really high end portable graphics hardware but Apple will be conservative.

I maintain servers and enterprise applications from an infrastructure perspective. I'm involved in upgrading two of those enterprise applications at once and I'm on a tight dead line :(
