the computer does come with a working battery that holds 46 min. of charge as well, as an extra battary cover, a phone cord, and ethernet cord, the power adapter, an external mouse., and if I can find it, a copy of windows ME will also be included. This computer has been very well taken care of by me, but I switched to mac, so I don't need this anymore :)

Of the names listed in the thread, Cooper's probably my pick for the best. Maddow doesn't even attempt to stay neutral. I was watching her coverage when Scott Walker won in Mass; she sounded like she'd just come from her best friend's funeral.
I'm not saying Maddow isn't biased. I'm saying she's not bad in that she usually uses facts and doesn't cite distorted clips to back her points.

My favorite is SilverStripe. Not as widely used or known, but I love the flexibility it gives me as a developer and it is pretty user-friendly, too.
Side note -- Ruby on Rails is framework, not really a CMS. It would be comparable to Cake, Symfony or Yii (frameworks for PHP).
+ 1 for SilverStripe, it is the CMS for software developers. The thing about SilverStripe is that although it has a GUI CMS for setting up pages, I like it more for its robust ORM and PHP framework features.

Hyperthreading is the latest name for an Intel technology that effectively allows a single physical core to run as two virtual cores. So in the current iMac range the i5 processors have 4 physical cores and can run 4 threads in parallel. The i7 processores have 4 physical cores but can run 8 threads in parallel thanks to hyperthreading.
So Hyperthreading only really offers an advantage with applications that are designed to run on multiple cores. Unfortunately things aren't entirely that simple as there's also the slightly faster clock speed of the i7 and Turbo Boost to consider.
Turbo Boost effectively lets a processor speed up when it's not using all of its cores by 'shutting off' the cores that aren't in use. Off the top of my head the i5 3.1Ghz can Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz while the i7 3.4Ghz can run to 3.8Ghz. The real world difference is relatively small but can be worth a couple of frames a second in a game or a few seconds off a benchmark.

ok - I went thru and approved a whole slew of songs that were marked as duplicates (same album) and so they should be in the system. When I get more time this weekend, I'll run thru and make sure I didn't miss any.

well I ordered through owc because its an amazon store giving me an extra 5% off with my credit card.
at 279 drive plus optibay, it was pretty close to getting an intel drive (230) + optibay for $40
Will I see any difference on a 6gbs drive? its another 60 bucks, not sure if its really worth it to boot up 1second faster. i don't do video editing of really intensive things. I just want fast program launch and fast booting and fast access to my day to day data.

I was actually thinking of waiting until I could get 8GB and SandyBridge (iX) processors. ;) But the fact they'll have to be ULV will still make their performance lower than the MBPs.
A MBA with SandyBridge and 8GB of ram would be a really nice machine

Well yea you're on a Mac forum so you're going to get a lot of Mac replies... which IMO is all you need ;)
But seriously... if you want extreme portability a MBA will do great... the 13 inch ones are slim and have amazing battery life; if you're willing to get the 1.4/1.6ghz dual core instead of a 2.x one (dual), then you should be set. They all have the glass trackpad which is great as well.
Like I posted before though, I would suggest a MBP. They are still very portable and small in size compared to other laptops and have a performance (and build) increase compared to the regular, polycarbonate Macs.
What are you planning on doing with your computer? Where are you taking it? These things would help us out a lot :)
